Therapy for First-Time Therapy Goers

Starting therapy for the first time can feel daunting, but it's a brave step toward understanding yourself better and finding support. Therapy offers a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment, helping you gain clarity and insight into your challenges. It's a valuable opportunity to develop coping strategies, improve your emotional well-being, and foster personal growth. Remember, you're not alone in this journey—many have found healing and empowerment through the therapeutic process. Taking this step can lead to lasting positive changes in your life.

Why Should You Start Therapy?

Starting Therapy Is a Brave Step

Beginning therapy is a significant decision, and it’s completely normal to feel nervous, uncertain, or even hesitant about reaching out.

Whatever brought you here—whether it’s a specific event or a general feeling that something’s off—I’m here for you.

This journey might stir up some uncomfortable thoughts and emotions, but you won’t be doing it alone. I’m committed to walking alongside you through this transformative process.

Common Reasons People Start Therapy

  • Feeling Alone: Many people try to power through on their own before realizing they need support, validation, and understanding.

  • Major Life Transitions: Starting or finishing school, becoming a parent, moving, or starting a new job can create a sense of uncertainty or overwhelm.

  • A Recent Breakup: Breakups—especially unexpected or painful ones—can bring up grief, confusion, and self-doubt. You’re not alone in feeling this.

  • When Things Get Tough: Sometimes it’s a big argument, job loss, or risky behavior that serves as a wake-up call.

You Don’t Have to Go Through This Alone

Therapy can offer the clarity, connection, and support you need to start feeling better.

Whatever you're going through, we can face it together.

Why I Love Working with First-Time Therapy Goers

I truly enjoy working with first-time therapy clients because it’s an opportunity to witness personal growth right from the start.

The journey of self-discovery can be both exciting and intimidating, and I’m honored to help guide you through it.

There’s something incredibly meaningful about supporting someone as they take that first brave step toward understanding themselves and learning new ways to cope with life’s challenges.

A Safe Space to Begin

I love creating a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where you can share your thoughts and feelings openly.

Together, we’ll:

  • Explore your unique experiences and goals

  • Build trust in the process

  • Normalize the mixed emotions that often come with starting therapy

Watching clients begin to recognize their strengths, grow in self-awareness, and develop a healthier relationship with themselves is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

If you’re new to therapy, know that it’s okay to feel unsure—and you don’t have to figure it all out alone.
I’m here to walk with you every step of the way.

What to Expect When You Reach Out

First off—I get it.
Reaching out to multiple therapists and hearing nothing back can feel incredibly frustrating and disheartening, especially when you’re taking the brave first step toward seeking support. You’re not alone in this experience—and I want to change that for you.

Step 1: Let’s Chat

Set up a free 15-minute consultation call.
During this call, I’ll ask about:

  • What led you to seek therapy

  • What you're hoping to find (or avoid) in a therapist

  • Any preferences or concerns you may have

I’ll also share a bit about my approach and what working together might look like.
No pressure to book a session—this is just a chance to see if we’re a good fit.

Step 2: Bring Your Questions

You don’t need to have it all figured out.
Whether you’re unsure how to express what you’re feeling or you’re still deciding if therapy is right for you, that’s okay.
In sessions, I’ll:

  • Check in regularly on how things are going

  • Ask thoughtful questions to help get beneath the surface

  • Work with you to figure things out—together

Step 3: Come As You Are

My style is laid-back and conversational.
I want you to feel free to be completely yourself—whether that means laughing, crying, or even cursing. There’s no pressure to “perform” in therapy. Your comfort matters most.

Step 4: Doing the Work—Together

I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy, including therapists.
I’ve done (and continue to do) the deep work in my own therapy, and it’s made a lasting, positive impact on my life. It’s also what helps me show up fully and authentically for you.
