Office Policies

Confidentiality: Privacy and confidentiality are taken seriously. In the majority of cases, what is said in the room stays in the room. However, there are rare instances when confidentiality has to be broken since I am a mandated reporter. They are: if a client is an imminent danger to self or others and if there's suspected child or elder abuse.

Cancellation: A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for rescheduling or cancelling an appointment. There is a $165 cancellation/no show fee if it is within 24 hours. You are expected to pay before your next appointment.

Credit Card: I require a credit card on hold for the sessions. I hold your credit card on file for initial and ongoing sessions through a HIPAA secure platform called Theranest.

Frequency of sessions: Individual sessions run for 50 minutes. Frequency of sessions will be planned based on your needs. I recommend meeting with new clients on a weekly basis for the first month, allowing us time to get to know one another and pinpoint an area to focus on.

Sliding Scale: I believe that therapy should be accessible, especially during life’s most significant transitions. Whether you’re a student, becoming a parent, starting out in your career, or navigating other big changes, I understand how overwhelming these times can be. To support you, I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots to make therapy more affordable. Please don’t hesitate to reach out so we can discuss sliding scale options and find a solution that works for you.

Although I am not an in-network provider, I recommend you call your insurance company to see about out-of network (OON) coverage. I do provide Superbills at the end of the month, if needed, as a part of the treatment to get reimbursed. I know how confusing it can be calling about coverage, so here are a few questions I recommend you ask:

Do I have OON coverage?

Do I need a referral from an in-network provider in order to see an OON provider?

Do I need pre-approval or pre-authorization before meeting with an OON provider?

Do I have an OON deductible? If so, how much and how much have I met this year?

Are there dollar limits, visit limits, or any other limits I should be aware of?

What is the allowable amount of sessions?

Do you cover Telehealth therapy?

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
